Arrupe Jesuit College Records Outstanding Success in Its First-Ever BECE Results

Arrupe Jesuit College, Abbi, has recorded an impressive milestone in its young history, achieving outstanding results in its first-ever Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE). Following the release of the 2026 BECE results by the National Examinations Council (NECO) on 25 June 2026, the school is delighted to celebrate the remarkable success of its pioneer graduating class, the Class of 2029.

For Arrupe Jesuit College, this achievement is more than a set of excellent examination scores; it is a defining moment in the life of the school. As the first class to sit for a national examination, the Class of 2029 carried the hopes, prayers, and expectations of an entire school community. They rose to the occasion with determination and distinction, producing results that eloquently speak to their hard work, their teachers’ dedication, and the strength of the college’s academic and formation program.

The results reveal an exceptional overall performance among the 42 candidates who sat for the examination. Three students earned 10 A’s, one student earned 9 A’s, and four others earned 8 A’s each. Several more students distinguished themselves with strong combinations of B and C grades, reflecting not only individual brilliance at the top but also a broad culture of excellence across the class. For a school presenting candidates for the BECE for the very first time, this result is a remarkable accomplishment and a strong testament to the quality of education offered at Arrupe Jesuit College.

Founded in September 2023 through the benefaction of the Austin Avuru Foundation to the North-West Africa Province of the Society of Jesus, Arrupe Jesuit College was established with a clear mission: to provide quality education rooted in the Catholic and Ignatian traditions. As a member of the global Jesuit network of schools, the college is committed to forming young men and women of conscience, competence, compassion, and commitment. It seeks not only academic excellence but also the holistic development of students who are self-aware, socially responsible, spiritually grounded, and prepared to serve others.

This first BECE success story offers concrete evidence that the vision is already taking root. It shows what is possible when rigorous academics are paired with disciplined study, dedicated mentorship, moral formation, and a supportive learning environment. The Class of 2029’s performance demonstrates that Arrupe Jesuit College is steadily establishing itself as a center of excellence in Delta State and beyond.

Behind these results lies the tireless commitment of teachers, administrators, formators, parents, and benefactors who have worked together since the school’s inception to nurture students. Their collaboration has helped build a community where learning is taken seriously, character is formed intentionally, and each student is encouraged to discover and develop his or her gifts.

As the college celebrates this historic achievement, it also looks ahead with confidence. The pioneer class’s success is both a cause for thanksgiving and a promise of even greater things to come. It affirms Arrupe Jesuit College’s place as a school that equips young people not only to excel on exams but also to become leaders of integrity, faith, service, and intellectual depth.

The entire Arrupe Jesuit College community gives thanks to God for this milestone and congratulates the Class of 2029 on setting a high standard for those who will follow. Their achievement marks the first chapter of what promises to be a rich story of excellence, growth, and transformative Jesuit education in Abbi.

Congratulations to the Class of 2029. Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam.
